When Winston Churchill once prayed for victory for someone, he often said:
"I never pray for health or wealth. I only pray for luck. After all, most of the passengers on the Titanic were healthy and wealthy, but luck smiled on very few."
This is really thought-provoking.
Did you know that a top executive of a major corporation survived the 9/11 attacks only because he had taken his son to kindergarten for the first time that morning?
One man survived because it was his turn to buy a donut.
A woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off.
Another got stuck in traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike.
A bus was missed.
A woman spilled coffee on her clothes and had to change.
A man's car wouldn't start.
One answered the phone before leaving the house.
One couldn't get a cab.
But the story that struck me the most is this:
A man put on new shoes that morning. On the way, the shoes blistered his foot. He stopped at the pharmacy to buy a bandage.
That's why he's alive.
So now, whenever I'm stuck in traffic or miss an elevator or have to go back to get my keys...I try to remember:
Maybe I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.
The next time your morning doesn't go according to plan—the kids are getting ready late, the keys can't be found, or every traffic light is red—stop for a moment.
Don't worry, don't rush.
You never know what twist of fate is protecting you in your delay.
Sometimes, what seems like failure is actually a gift from God.
